“They shook me awake (totally unnecessary as the youngest had already tripped on my discarded clothes and head butted me in the stomach), dumped the whole thing on my bed, announced ‘Happy Mother’s Day!’ Which was quickly followed by, ‘Eat the toast eat the toast eat the toast; and ‘my present’s the best right? Right? Right? He’s hitting me! You’re going to die you little booger!’…and then it really started to degenerate.
….My perfect Mother’s Day would involve me, my bed, maybe a coffee, and my beloved Seamus.”
Laughing. I can picture this so clearly because this is MY life, and I was reading it in The BlackBerry Diaries. Yes, there is a book about the love of and life in combination with a BlackBerry. “The BlackBerry Diaries: Adventures in Modern Motherhood” by Kathy Buckworth is a fun, light, entertaining and raw account of motherhood mixed with a BlackBerry.
I was intrigued by the title since I own my own and (according to my husband) it is attached to me. Set in a blog-style format, the read is easy and full of sassy, raw, realities of motherhood.
Seamus, I know you’re wondering…well, you’ll have to read her book. But I can tell you that I now have my own carrier (so that I really can have it attached to me) and…Philipe. So now you’re wondering… Seamus? Philipe? Pick up your copy of The BlackBerry Diaries to find out, and enjoy a laugh and newfound fondness for your BlackBerry.
Though it’s an easy read, I found myself unable to pick up my copy and continue reading on to the very end. Not for the rawness, humor or experiences, but I found it difficult to gel with…to find the flow. I’m sure it was me. I’m sure that the humor will not be lost on other BlackBerry users; but I wanted to be honest.
What Others Are Saying
“The only thing more addictive than checking your BlackBerry is reading Kathy Buckworth’s hilarious account of why we moms do it! Her social satire is warm, human, and accurate right down to the lice and ‘poop balls.’ You can’t make this stuff up, right? She’s a mom who’s unafraid to tell it like it is down in the trenches of modern momdom. And guess what? With her comedic spin, you actually wouldn’t want it any other way.”
- Alyson Schafer, Psychotherapist, parenting expert, and author of Honey, I Wrecked the Kids
“Even the most addicted BlackBerry users will forget they own one after picking up this lilarious book. If they do decide to send an email, it will contain a subject line to friends passing on the message: ‘You must read this book!’”
- Rebecca Eckler, bestselling author of Knocked Up, Wiped!, and Toddlers Gone Wild

Sounds like a fun, light hearted read. However, I’m going to have to recommend it to my sister. Currently I have no time to read a book. In seven years though, maybe…sigh.
Sounds like a fun, light hearted read. However, I’m going to have to recommend it to my single sister. I can’t remember the last time I finished an actual BOOK. Maybe in seven years though…sigh.
Ooops. Just accidentally commented twice.
