At this point, I’ve found that:
I’ve turned a page in my life. I no longer feel “hysterical” about my life. Maybe it’s because we have Alex on more appropriate medications than the ones that were masking the issues; in turn making the severe behavioral issues we had been experiencing, and had increased, [...]

I’m at a crossroads. So many things in play.
I began General Hysteria, really, for me. I began General Hysteria for any other special needs parents that felt alone; any parent, regardless of needs, that felt isolated, unsure. In my haste to share this proud endeavor, I let a little leak to those around me. I [...]

Someone once formed the words and asked the question:
“Well, you aren’t complaining about everything, right? Because you made your choices. You chose to have three children and live your life, so it’s not like you didn’t know what you were getting into, right?”
My reaction, “Well of course not. We made our [...]

Their legs were larger than life; they were the things that B-Rated horror movies are made of. These spiders I was dreaming of. They weren’t overpowering me, but the few that came were HUGE. I woke in a panic.
I was sweaty. I actually put my glasses on so I could see….what?!?!? Them coming after me [...]

Apparently I’m hooked on phonics.
That’s right. I learned to spell by sounding out the word, scratching down the corresponding letters, then sitting back satisfied that I spelled correctly.
Only, apparently, I didn’t. I don’t. Phonics doesn’t account for the differences between affect and effect. (Disclaimer: I don’t know that it’s actually Hooked on Phonics, but that’s [...]
