An interesting thing….no matter how well you think someone understands the challenges your child faces, something so little happens that makes you realize, they understand nothing.  They can not see past their own globe, can not consider what others may have to go through, they know not how people in general are different and have [...]

I did not feed my youngest two cheese balls, oatmeal and milk for lunch one day.
I did not get understandably tired of telling Ben not to eat snow that’s been lying on the ground for the last week and a half. I did not succumb to the third child lax and decide that if [...]

“Alex is a kindergarten student at The Elementary School with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy.  Alex’s parents reported that Alex is verbal, with about 60-70% intelligibility.  Organizing his communication is still a struggle for him.  Alex can get overwhelmed or over stimulated easily.  In the classroom, Miss A described Alex as being easily distracted by [...]

Determination, Observation, Happiness, Compassion, Kindness
Determination in all he does shines through,

I’m scared.
Like others, the economy is killing us. There’s no place for room to cut back; everything is a set expense…water, electric, trash, community association dues included. Gas – we do what we can. Zach needs to commute back and forth for work and has a car that gets very good gas mileage. We stay [...]

The Parent Blogger’s Network recently challenged us to explain how our kids have made our life zoo-ey. A Zoo; hugh, that should be easy enough, right?
Well, when I think of the zoo, I think of chaos, tons of running, sunshine, screeching noises, bird calls, screaming kids, food on the ground that chipmunks quickly snatch up [...]

Blank stares. Concentrated smiles. Forced high pitched enthusiasm.
That’s what we get when we excitedly talk to other parents, of traditional kids, about how happy we are that Alex has won the right to ride on a regular school bus. Now, it’s not anyone’s fault that they don’t get why this is [...]
